Travel Blog: Just a Day in the Life

So it was a day, much like any other day. I woke up, drank coffee, had a doughnut for breakfast. Chatted with some people then checked email and did some work. Then Lucas and Madeline and I went for a walk up to the hill/park on the other side of town to see the Zoo. It was a sorry affair to say the least and I was appalled by the state in which the animals were kept. The bears have tiny little prison cells while a few goats have a large area. Two wolves were penned up together and for fun they decided to chew each other’s ears off (one still had bloody stumps when we were there.

The Siberian Tiger? We looked sad, lonely and overall unhappy with his conditions. In fact I was so displeased with the whole thing about the state of the place that I feel I should write a letter to someone about it. Any ideas? I’ll put up some photos today so you too can see the sorry state of things. Though I think I pretty much tried to not show that in the photos.

After that I was sort of depressed. It’s sad to see such majestic animals in such terrible conditions and I’m certain that many organizations would be horrified by the conditions there. So I did some things that I had to do like buy a box to ship some stuff back to CZ (Hana, there’s a box coming..nothing interesting – clothes I didn’t want to carry around anymore).

So then I went back to the hostel and did some work as well as put together my proposal and did some research on the hostels and what they might need. I’m all set for tomorrow’s meeting so that’s cool.

Yes, I did go for a swim in the sea. I’m trying to get there every day. I mean, I’m here right?! I should be swimming in the damned thing, so I do.

Now I’m hanging out with Cassio, Kevin, Madeline and James at the hostel (Balz! left) and we’ve just tried Rakija which reminded me of Slivovice. Upon further investigation (thanks Wikipedia) we found out that it’s the grape version of slivovice which is plums.

Alright I’m done. Here’s the photos…
