Travel Blog: Zagreb Day 2

Day two of being in Zagreb was cool and eventful but yet, uneventful. The day started fairly early (for me) and I headed toward the center on foot from my host (Tomislav)’s place. That allowed me to snap a few quick photos of things as I went. Along the way I contemplated whether or not the Croats actually look people in the eye as they pass. I found that with sunglasses people don’t look at you but without it’s about 75% of the time. Of course my wearing a straw cowboy hat could have something to do with people looking.

Not nearly as many photos today but they are mostly areas that I missed yesterday.  So now I’m posed the question do I stay in Zagreb for another full day or do I head out. I am enjoying myself here and I really like the town. I could see myself staying for some length of time. However I also want to see the rest of the country and make my way tosome other places.

I’ve been pinging some people for couches in Zadar but to no avail thus far. So I’m considering just heading out and looking for a hostel. I just saw a thing on television talking about tourism being down across much of the coast by 15-20%. So that means that there is probably some room available in all three towns I want to hit and I might even find some accomodation on the islands I should check out like Hvar.

I’ve met a few more Croatians today and chatted, albeit extremely briefly, with a few. They do seem extremely friendly for the most part which is probably part of the reason I feel at home and think I could stay for awhile. But maybe what I’ll do is head to the coast then south and make my way through the rest of the country as I head into the unknown that awaits in Bosnia/Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia. Maybe I even hit Greece and Turkey before I think about turning and heading back for Praha.

Well, here are the photos for the day. I’ll keep you all posted as to where I go.
