So I’m in Split. Interesting story. I headed out of Zadar which required a lot of walking to find a proper spot to hitch. But in the end it paid off as I only waited about 30 minutes or so before Marijan the fisherman scooped me out of the sea and off we went towards Biograd and more. That was not a place to hitchhike and I was forced to take a bus down to Šibenik or else I would have been stranded there all night.
Upon arriving I found a cool little town with a lot of things to check out (see the gallery below). Also while taking a photo of a church (probably the oldest in the city I was told) I met some new friends at Steakhouse number 4 including Zdenko, his brother and some other people. Turns out there was going to be a live concert there of a Croatian band and I was instructed to return and check it out. Which I did after trying to find a convenient place to sleep which was nearly impossible it seemed.
Eventually I settled on sleeping at the bus station for a couple hours until a bus heading for Split left. I arrived at around 4.30 in the morning and napped intermittently on the Riva (promenade overlooking the sea) and then checked for a couch. Since I had received no word I emailed someone else for later in the week and headed out to find a hostel, successfully (the Three Turtles). After a round of quick introductions to everyone there new acquaintance Lucas and I headed off to Trogir for some sightseeing and then back to Split for some all-important lying on the beach and swimming in the sea. I have decided I certainly like this swimming in the sea everyday stuff and so I’m going to make a point of doing it as much as possible (perhaps spending more of my time down here?).
The writing has been going extremely well. I’ve laid down at least 60 pages since I left Prague. I think it’s a combination of free time and inspiration from all the things I’ve been seeing. Sure I haven’t really written what I’ve seen into the book but Myranda’s Story now has like 180 or 190 pages done.
OK so time to catch up, here’s the map of the recent travels:
