Sunday (12 July 2009) arrived with nary a problem and I knew it was a day of work. Pretty much everyone in the hostel was going on the boat tour that day and so it meant I could get some work done in solitude. Rob was leaving that day and so we had to talk about the Follow The Hippo project so that we were on the same page prior to any work being done. So we came to an agreement on the basics of design and implementation and work should commence soon.
Follow the Hippo is going to be an online community for backpackers around the world to share their stories, photos and information. I think it’s going to be a great space online and that was part of the reason I wanted to be attached to the project in some way. Plus I’ll blog and exchange info with other travelers and backpackers and help us all have better travels.
So after that I did some sorely needed work as well for ReelSEO…
After all of that some people headed back from the boat tour and Linus (Swedish) and Dan (Boston) and I headed into town for a look around and some photos. Having sat down for a beer we were joined by Scott (Calgary) and then headed back to the hostel for a bite before the clubs.
Now then, we left the hostel at about 11.30 and headed into the old town. We got into some pub and the waitress literally pushed people off of a table so we could use it and we crammed the 10 of us around it and made a little more room as needed. The festivities had begun. The group consisted of myself, Linus, Dan, Scott, Kate (UK), Tom (2 of them), Loo (not really but that’s the joke as our first conversation was about going for a wee and then she said ‘by the way my name’s Lou), Andrea, Keilan and I think someone else I’ve forgotten now (sorry about that, but can you blame me?).
After that place started winding down we headed for the infamous Trocadero. There was live music on so we paid to get in and it was jumping. But the concert hall like structure of the place made it feel like you were just sort of shunted aside so that people could walk by all night long. We did finally find a place up high and made ourselves a little space again. Ran into some Serbians who weren’t all that bad and then we played Guess Her Age.
Poor Scott was tasked with having to go up and ask them all what their age was which worked out well in the end. Then a girl from earlier showed up who was apparently a prostitute but was either 17 which would have been bad or 23 which would have been ok… we never found out as she was grabbing and pulling him into the club and he left with us…so we called party foul as she said she’d have sex with him without having to pay.
A tribunal was convened and it was decided that his punishment was to get 5 of 10 women to agree to have sex with him without money being involved. It was hard work but Scott was a champ about it and almost managed to pull it off. However, we had to dock him like 3 points as he met a group of four girls who all agreed to have sex with him without pay and instead of introducing the tribunal as his friends he just let them walk away…tsk tsk Scott.
There was much more to the night, but some things are best left unwritten…or what happens Budva, stays in Budva.
