The overnight train from Praha to Ljubljana was splendid. It was a brand new wagon (which explains the price). It even had a toilet AND a shower in it. I had the top bunk and I was a little too tall for it but I managed to be comfortable and get around 5.5 hours of sleep. More than enough.
We pulled into Ljubljana about 06.15 this morning and I started doing some siteseeing. It’s now 13.05 and I haven’t found a place to sleep yet but whatever, I’m sure I’ll manage. There’s a nice big park nearby if all else fails. I’ve taken over 240 photos already today partly because of the Nostalgia Festival that’s happening here at Presnerov Trg. I’m sitting on the stairs of Marijino oznanjenje and siphoning Wi-fi from I don’t know where.
The day started out dark and gloomy but made for some great photos and even with a little rain through the morning it was barely a bother. Now the sun is shining and it’s quite warm. The festival continues and includes some historical soldiering units, classic cars dating back to the 1920’s and even things like handmade paper.
There’s also a huge open air market ranging over several areas and including all manner of fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and baked goods. There’s even a large section of flower sellers and another of clothes.
