It’s Election Day in the USA. This ties directly into this book and the entire series as when I started out telling the story I decided to make it a ‘retro Sci-Fi’ story. Sci-Fi used to be used mainly to tell cautionary tales of the future where things aren’t always as rosy as they appear, oppressive governments control the people’s every move, and no one is truly safe or secure. A lot of recent political, social and economic events in our real world have influenced what I write and where the story sort of goes.
In Myranda’s world there are no elections. The Establishment is the de facto government and is run in a semi-secretive manner. You, the readers, Myranda and her friends don’t really know anything about who runs their world. However, in Revelations, they meet some new people that know a lot more about what is going on and are none too pleased with the situation. There is also unrest building in the world as the people are sort of waking up to the realities of their lives.
Hopefully, Americans wake up to the reality of their lives today and get out and vote for a better tomorrow. In essence, Myranda is a small part of every single one of us as she is starting to become active in creating a better world for herself, friends and family.
