HIW #9 – When time and the muses allow

I know I haven’t written much here lately but it doesn’t mean I haven’t been writing. In the new notebook I have over 75 pages done and the story is progressing quite well. I get the sense this will be my best story ever. It contains multiple levels of conflict and meaning. There might even be allegory and parable like qualities to the story.

The thing about writing is that one must find both time and inspiration. This story is inspiring for me. I recently told someone that every time I sit down and open the notebook five pages write themselves.

The problem is finding that time to do it. I was writing before I went to sleep and that works but I’d much rather take a more active role and do it when I’m not so tired. But of course the work of the normal course of every day gets in the way.

Looking through the book I found a strange pattern. See, I track the day and time in it when I write. Sections were written on the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th of March. Then 13th, 14th….18th, 25th 31st…

The second half of that I was traveling in France for two weeks so I can see why I didn’t get that much done. It was a hectic holiday. But I’ve been back for over a week and a half and I haven’t gotten back into the swing. Sure I had tons of things to get done for GDN and my own paid-writing so that could be it. I’m hoping I’ll get back to it this weekend.

I am still very excited about the story as new characters have entered into the mix including Renfair – I did the due diligence and I can’t find any reference to that name. It had been nagging at me that I had heard that character name somewhere else. I think my mind wants to connect it to Renfield from Dracula. So I’ve decided that Renfair will indeed be the name of Guggenheim’s…associate. Another character has also been introduced but it’s a surprise, sort of. I mean if you put together the clues from the available information on the site here you might come to the conclusion of who it is… I didn’t exactly hide it, I just evaded saying it.
