The Upward Spiral

As I said in the last post, the Trainway in the Journey of Why, is made up of two strands, the Upward Spiral and the Downward Spiral. Each is representative of certain things, and together they are also representative of several other things. Again, things for other posts.

Since yesterday’s post dealt with the negative aspect of the world, the dystopian society, and the lives of the people, in regard to the Downward Spiral, today is a more positive note to give balance. The Upward Spiral’s main meaning is in its being the physical manifestation of the path toward enlightenment, a theme that runs deep through the series and was even featured on the original cover of Foundations, Book one of the series.

However, they are a continuous loop. At the bottom of the Downward Spiral, where we first found Myranda, it loops back and turns into the Upward Spiral. This also shows that there is always a way back from the depths of darkness, that even at the bottom of the Downward Spiral, there is a way out, a way back toward positivity, and a way toward enlightenment.
